What's the difference between cooking whole and with ground spices? Ground Spices?

There are no differences between cooking with whole spices or ground spices. After harvesting, spices are ground. The quality is the same.

However, the price differences are significant. Whole spices cost more because of the labour involved in processing them. However, the flavor is worth it.

When you buy bulk spices, you may get additional discounts. An example: If you buy an entire bag full of cinnamon sticks, you might get a discount.

This is true for cloves, ginger and cardamom. This can help you save money on spices if you buy them in bulk.

Whole spices also last longer than ground spices. Because ground spices lose potency quickly from oxidation, this is why whole spices last longer than ground spices.

But the main reason why we recommend purchasing whole spices is that they add a lot of character to recipes.

Whole turmeric can be used to make delicious curry. To make a spice mixture for chicken dishes, you can grind whole coriander seed.

It takes time to grind spices. A large amount of whole spices is a good idea. So you don't run short of spices.


What are the most delicious Thai spices?

Galangal and coriander are some of the best Thai spices. Other good spices include clove, cardamom and black peppercorn as well as cloves, star anise and cloves.

Here is where the magic happens. You can transform your favourite spices into an easy-to-use powdered form with ingenuity. To make tasty spiced drinks, you can combine them with your favourite beverages.

There are two methods to make these powders. The first involves the grinding of whole spices to make fine powder. Another way is to grind the spices in a mortar and pestle.

Whatever method you choose to use, you will find that powders are much easier than whole spices. Powder also keeps well so you won't run dry.

Mixing spices can be fun to create new flavors. For example, you could combine peppermint and spearmint leaves to make minty water. Or ginger and cardamom pods to make spicy ginger tea.

Once you are proficient in making powdered spice, you can also apply this technique to herbs. Some popular herbs include basil, oregano, rosemary, thyme, and sage.

There are many options. Powdered spices are a great way to make your drinks more flavorful or to enhance dishes like soups and salads.

How to Make a Garlic Press

A garlic press is an essential tool for any home cook. You can quickly mince garlic or make a paste. It is great for crushing whole garlic cloves in a buttery spread, or garlic salt.

However, if you don’t already have a garlic pressing machine, you might wonder how to get one. We have some tips to help get you started.

First things first: you'll need a large bowl. Place the bowl underneath the press and pour the crushed garlic into it. Now, adjust the pressure regulator valve until it reaches maximum.

Next, turn your handle clockwise to hear a click. The top end of the press should lift and reveal a flat area that allows you to slide your blade back and forth across the bowl. Keep turning the handle clockwise until you reach the end of the blades.

Finally, take out the pressed garlic.

Here are other ways you can make use of this versatile tool.

  • Garlic mince can be added to soups or sauces, salads or dips.
  • The press can be used to crush whole garlic cloves and make buttery spread.
  • Before baking, crush whole cloves of garlic on pizza dough
  • Mix roasted garlic in mashed potatoes or creamy pasta.
